What does it mean to go on this missions trip to Sophumelela Preschool? To see God at work in the world? To be changed by an experience of faith in action? Hear it straight from some of our Senior Youth of ICC...
"This means a lot to me because it will be an experience of a life time, which many people will never experience. These kids are depending on us to grow spiritually and to play around. I look at this experience as a big responsibility. I hope that by sharing these days of my life with these little brothers and sisters, I will grow spiritually closer to God and emotionally to the sick and needy." - Sebastien
"Going to South Africa in an aid ministry is about helping a community of fellow believers in Christ to improve their surroundings, and to bring joy to the lives of children who experience heartbreaking poverty. But not only is this an aid mission to the people of South Africa, this is also an experience that will help change the perspective of the youth at ICC; it will help us all to see that many people are not so fortunate as those of us living in Denmark, but more importantly will illustrate to us the faith of God's people in the face of great challenges. This trip will no doubt be a life changing experience not just to many African Christians, but also to many of the youth here at the church." - Jessica
"Going to Sophumelela is definitely going to be one of my greatest experiences. I hope that both the children we meet there and our group both come out of it with something we can use for the rest of our lives through Christ. It will help all of our youth group see how God can act through other places and other people in extraordinary circumstances. " - Nick
"It means a lot to me to use my skills and faith to help the children in South Africa, to help them and to do as much as I can do to improve their school to help them get a better education to give the children the best possible chance in life. I hope that when I get back to my life over here from being in South Africa I would have learned lots about their way of life and what it is to live in South Africa . Also, I hope that the trip will help me, and influence me in what I take for granted. I am really excited about the prospect of meeting the children of the parish and I'm sure it will benefit me as a person." -Andrea
"It'll be good to be able to give to others less fortunate than me personally, rather than just via donations. By seeing these children in need, hopefully it will put some of my own problems into perspective, and appreciate what I take for granted. We see it in the news, but it is differen in real life." - George
"I feel honored to be given the opportunity to serve the Lord by traveling to South Africa to help those that are in need. It is our duty as God’s children to lend a hand to one another and the young children at the Sophumelela Preschool need just that. I feel that I will grow significantly as a person through serving in the name of the Lord. It is a blessing to be able to take part in this type of extraordinary experience. Through interacting with these children, the Senior Youth Group at ICC will come together spiritually just as we have already begun to throughout the preparation for this trip. I hope to make a difference in the lives of the children at St. Michael's parish by helping them in the areas in which they struggle as well as offering friendship and support. As the Book of John states, “Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” 1 John 3:18." - Cameron
"It is very important to me to be able to help other children in need. It is important to me to know I can make a difference and make kids happy. I hope to come out with a new perspective on life and what is important in life and what is not. I hope to have felt like I made a difference for these kids. I hope to appreciate life and not take things for granted." - Veronique
"I am so happy that I have the opportunity to go to South Africa and be able to share my faith, time, and love with those in South Africa. I think that a year ago, I would have never thought about living in a different country, let alone going to South Africa on a missions trip. I hope that while I am trying to show the love of Christ to these children by playing with them, listening to them talk, watching them interact with others that I will see what the Father God will be showing me. I would like to be able to see their dependence upon Him and make me want to depend upon Him even more, through all that I do. " - Rachel, ICC's Sr. Youth Leader
